66 days… that’s the average time it takes to form a habit according to a study on change. That’s one of the reasons it’s hard for us to change our behavior and start a new habit. As humans, we want instant gratification, so much that we can have almost anything delivered to our door within a few hours. How’s that for not having to delay gratification!
It’s no surprise that as fast as we want results, we’re often left frustrated that change isn’t happening immediately. Right behind our desire for a fast change is the need to have everything aligned perfectly to create a change.
If you are anything like me when I wanted to eat healthier or wanted to be more consistent with working out and thought, “I’ll start again on Monday because I missed a day,” then you know all too well how perfectionist thinking blows up a goal.
In today’s episode, we’ll renew your motivation for creating new habits and leave you inspired to take on new goals with my guest Emily Nichols. She is the host of the Self Transformed podcast, which redefines self-care through simple fitness, nutrition, and mindset habit hacks.
From her journey as an overworked and overwhelmed mom, to the transformation she, her husband, and her clients have made through consistent change, you’ll learn her tips to stay consistent and avoid the all-or-nothing thought patterns that keep you from reaching your goals.
