I blame my years of difficulty saying no and people pleasing on being raised in the South. It was impolite to say no or not help out every time you are needed. Not to mention what people would think of me, if I said no.
Freedom appeared when I stopped blaming others and took responsibility for myself. I have to be the one who says no to those that make demands of my time. I don’t have the ability to please anyone and when I gave this up, is when I found happiness.
There are many reasons why people struggle with saying no and people pleasing. Regardless of the reason why, the most important part is what action you will take to stop it.
Take it from a recovering people pleaser, you can change, and your happiness depends on it.
